The Art & Heart of Facilitation

ELEVATing ENGAGEMENT, EFFECTIVENESS AND ENTHUSIASM

IN YOUR own WORKSHOPS & TRAININGS

“Facilitate” means to make easy, and that means easy for the group and also easy for you. It means easy to evoke interest and involvement, easy to foster trusting relationships, and easy to create lasting and transferrable learning. It’s a process that happens both from the inside > out (by holding attitudes and intentions that support creative, collaborative learning), and from the outside > in (by employing processes, techniques, words and actions that will enhance the ability of participants to integrate and implement what they’ve learned).

This workshop is like a play within a play: the workshop itself is an object for recognizing and choosing effective over less-than-effective approaches to facilitation, and the workshop is an immersive learning experience for mastering one’s own wisdom and skills as a facilitator.

Participants will explore and practice:

  • The cycle and styles of learning

  • Creating and maintaining a stimulating learning environment

  • Leading discussions

  • Giving instructions

  • Storytelling

  • Reading and responding to the state of the group

  • Responding to challenges

  • The Art: balancing attention on people, processes and products

  • The Heart: deepening the intention of shared awareness and understanding, shared responsibility and shared success

  • The Heart of the Art: intending and attending through HOW: honoring, openness and willingness

The workshop features hands-on facilitation practice with individual coaching and feedback. It may be offered as a two-day in person workshop, or online with a combination of pre-recorded informational sections, and live online exercises, discussions, and practice sessions.

Attending your training was an astounding boost for me in the ability to be present, relaxed and still in control.
